Menudo, es una agrupación infantil Puertorriqueña, que se creó en el año 1977 por el productor Edgardo Díaz, que en su primera formación sólo fue conocida en Puerto Rico.

Los primeros integrantes fueron Ricky Meléndez, Carlos Meléndez, Oscar Meléndez y los hermanos Sallaberry Fernando y Neftaly.

En la década de los años 80 por el grupo pasaron otros integrantes, a saber: René Farrait, Xavier Serbia, Johnny Lozada, Charlie Massó, Ray Reyes, Roy Rosello, Robby Draco Rosa y Ricky Martin, alcanzando entonces proyección internacional. Algunos de sus integrantes han logrado ser reconocidos a nivel internacional en sus carreras en solitario. El primer país de Latinoamérica que los hizo famosos fue Venezuela, luego su expansión llegó a otras naciones como México, Brasil, Argentina, Colombia, Chile, Uruguay etc. Con el tiempo lograron tener fama en los Estados Unidos, incluso cruzando los océanos en Asia en países como Filipinas y Japón y también Europa, principalmente España .

Pese la corta edad de sus integrantes, compitieron en el mercado con otras agrupaciones que les imitaban, entre ellos de su propio país como el grupo Los Chicos, en el cual fue integrante el cantante Chayanne y con otros a nivel internacional, ambas agrupaciones llegaron a un nivel de ventas similar, principalmente en el mercado latinoamericano, así también como Pato de Goma, Cadillac, La Unión, Flans etc..

Han grabado sus canciones en diferentes versiones e idiomas Español, Inglés, Portugués, italiano, Tangalo, & Japonés, canciones más famosas como Quiero Ser, Subete a mi moto, Quiero Rock, A Volar, Niña luna, Si tú no estas, Dulces Besos, Es por amor, Leydi, Chiquitita, una reedición del éxito del grupo sueco Abba, Claridad, otra reedición del cantante italiano Umberto Tozzi, Cambiale las pilas, Lluvia entre otros. Sus integrantes al cumplir la edad establecida eran sustituidos por nuevos integrantes, en los cuales eran audicionados entre cientos de jóvenes.

En 1991, Menudo retorna con nuevos integrantes de una nueva generación, pero el nombre del grupo no duró mucho, sólo hasta 1996, ya en 1997 deciden cambiar o resumir el nombre por el de MDO, aunque los antiguos integrantes de 1998 decidieron reunirse y grabar un nuevo disco en vivo, llamado 15 años después El Reencuentro, y posteriormente retornaron en el año 2005, cantando los antiguos éxitos de Menudo.
